Gap Fall 2009

Now I'm not a huge fan of Le Gap, I disapprove of the way that they treat children ... specifically Indian and Arabian children, and I think their clothes are not always made with durability in mind (perhaps it is because of their position on labor?), but their Fall 2009 line up is looking rather enticing.

I have to get my hands on one of those Navajo knit sweaters. A couple chunky scarves couldn't hurt ... and even those chinos aren't looking so bad. (Oh and I want that parka in the last picture, it shall be mine.)

Why am I even talking about fall right now...? It's kind of pathetic seeing as I don't even have my summer wardrobe together yet. Seeing as summer isn't even fucking here.

Project Runway Season 5

The last season of Project Runway ever to be seen on Bravo. I don't know if I feel good about Lifetime taking over the task ... I can't say that I find a great deal of good in anything that the Lifetime channel shows, frankly.

How about Tim Gunn as a guest judge? Poor old pitiful Jennifer Lopez and her sad sad foot injury.

And my precious precious Leanne Marshall ... oh how I love that girl. So sweet ... so wholesome. Something about her screams of this sickening innocence that you know it far to good to be true. I'm glad that she won though.

That wedding dress was 'flawless'. I absolutely loved it. But my favorite piece from her is still the dress from the 'Fashion that Drives You' episode when they made ensembles out of car parts.

This was when I knew that she had to win.

Need vs Want

Well I most certainly have some catching up to do. It is a sad day when I have absolutely nothing to do all week and I still can't seem to bring myself to log onto the computer and check any of my messages, or update this blog ... even though, when I started it, I told myself that I wouldn't let this very thing happen. Maybe I can get myself into gear.

Let me start off with one designer in particular that I'm already crazy over.

Christopher Kane:

I'm utterly and completely in love with that dress in the third picture ... and those pants in the fourth? I mean come on. I'm dying here. Those strapy platforms are also amazing. The love the feel of the collection which is quite architectural yet with an organic quality that keeps it from being stiff.

Next up?

Roksanda Ilincic:

All of the billowy luminescent fabrics in every muted color you can think of. I especially love that peach number in the first picture and the jumpsuit in the third. And again with those lacey heels.

Why am I even focusing on spring? I haven't yet pulled my fall wardrobe together. I need to get a move on.

Comme Des Garcons for H&M

As most of you might already know by now the much anticipated, yet as of now dreaded by some, collaboration by Comme Des Garcons and H&M is due to come out this November.

I am fairly excited about it myself, though I am well aware of and appreciate what others think. Some say that Rei Kawakubo lost some of herself in this collection because of the translation of her deconstructive style into a mainstream market. I think that those people think too much ... this really is not so serious.

Now, that's not to say that I don't know that some of the mainstream market customers won't understand the collection therefore won't buy it, but I do believe that there are people out there that will appreciate something a little different from what they are use too ... something that they don't have to pay an arm and a leg for that is.

All in all I think that it's a fine idea, and a fine collaboration as well. I like what I've seen so far and I really do think that it'll be a hit, of sorts, when it arrives in stores a short while from now. H&M has always been loyal about bringing us relatively decent knock-off designer fashions, so buying something from them that a designer has actually touched can't be all wrong.

Me? I'm going for the polka dots and the blazers. What do you think?
