Project Runway Season 5

The last season of Project Runway ever to be seen on Bravo. I don't know if I feel good about Lifetime taking over the task ... I can't say that I find a great deal of good in anything that the Lifetime channel shows, frankly.

How about Tim Gunn as a guest judge? Poor old pitiful Jennifer Lopez and her sad sad foot injury.

And my precious precious Leanne Marshall ... oh how I love that girl. So sweet ... so wholesome. Something about her screams of this sickening innocence that you know it far to good to be true. I'm glad that she won though.

That wedding dress was 'flawless'. I absolutely loved it. But my favorite piece from her is still the dress from the 'Fashion that Drives You' episode when they made ensembles out of car parts.

This was when I knew that she had to win.

Heinous

Is it just me, or does the large version of this still from Deep Blue Sea scare anyone else half into a coma?

For some reason I find this imagine to be quite terrifying. Now I watched the movie which was mediocre at best, but the actual motion picture scene didn't bother nearly as much as this still does.

How strange.

Olay versus Umbrella

Okay, now I just might be a total nerd for noticing this, but I'm going to crawl out on a limb and say that any good fan of any of the Resident Evil movies should have noticed this right away.

Has anyone noticed that Olay's Definity Eye Illuminator looks almost exactly like the T-virus from the RE movies?

VS

T-virus wins without a doubt. I mean ... evil flesh eating zombies are so much more fun.

Where's Alice?

Gore Fest

For the horror fanatic in all of us.

Not just anyone can appreciate a really good gore film. It takes a person with strong resolve to sit through scenes brutal enough to put an elderly man or a mother of four into an early grave. This precious gem is currently showing on Fearnet On Demand, which is where I saw it.

Now, I'm a sucker for a good horror thriller, and while this film is true to its form, it is a bit cheesy in that old school horror movie turned modern way. Directed by Ryuhei Kitamura and produced by author Clive Barker, from whom wrote the short story that it was based on, it takes on a much more artistic quality. Practically every scene is angled and coordinated perfectly, the backdrops of each setting are very specific to how you should feel during that moment, whether it be in vivid color or desaturated coldness, and the use of shadows and darkness were so beautifully done that you often got a very comic book come to life feeling from it.

The gore scenes were by far the best I've seen in quite some time, both beautifully artistic and horrific to watch at the same time, and the characters though sometimes a touch unconvincing were soundly constructed. Overall the plot of the movie was its only downfall, at times seeming monotonously predictable and at others, so confusing that you though you were watching Jacob's Ladder all over again.

I think that for the most part it is an amazing movie for the horror flick lovers at heart and anyone with a brain can enjoy at least at some level the amount of work that was put into making this wonderful yet disturbing film. Obviously I enjoyed it, if a bit late, and I fully encourage anyone who has seen it to leave reviews of your own. I would like to hear about what you thought as well.

Need vs Want

Well I most certainly have some catching up to do. It is a sad day when I have absolutely nothing to do all week and I still can't seem to bring myself to log onto the computer and check any of my messages, or update this blog ... even though, when I started it, I told myself that I wouldn't let this very thing happen. Maybe I can get myself into gear.

Let me start off with one designer in particular that I'm already crazy over.

Christopher Kane:

I'm utterly and completely in love with that dress in the third picture ... and those pants in the fourth? I mean come on. I'm dying here. Those strapy platforms are also amazing. The love the feel of the collection which is quite architectural yet with an organic quality that keeps it from being stiff.

Next up?

Roksanda Ilincic:

All of the billowy luminescent fabrics in every muted color you can think of. I especially love that peach number in the first picture and the jumpsuit in the third. And again with those lacey heels.

Why am I even focusing on spring? I haven't yet pulled my fall wardrobe together. I need to get a move on.
